SummarySummary Matthew J. Maurer's primary research activities are providing statistical direction and analysis to research collaborators in lymphoma and ovarian cancer. He collaborates on numerous basic science, genetics, immunology, and population science studies as well clinical trials in these areas. His personal research focuses on prognosis and clinical outcomes in lymphoma. Focus areas *University of Iowa / Mayo Clinic SPORE The University of Iowa/Mayo Clinic (UI/MC) Lymphoma SPORE is a highly productive translational cancer research program based at two comprehensive cancer centers that was first funded in 2002 and has been competitively renewed in 2007 and 2012. Maurer has been a member of the biostatistics and bioinformatics core since 2003 and collaborates with SPORE investigators and both Mayo Clinic and the University of Iowa. *Mayo Clinic Ovarian SPORE The Mayo Clinic Ovarian SPORE is a translational research program in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center with the purpose of stimulating and facilitating rigorous translational research in ovarian cancer. The Biostatistics Core provides statistical collaboration and data management support for each of the four Ovarian Cancer SPORE research projects, the Career Development Program, the Developmental Research Program and the other three cores in the Ovarian Cancer SPORE. Maurer has been a member of the biostatistics core since the SPORE was initially funded in 2009. *Mayo Clinic / University of Iowa Lymphoma Molecular Epidemiology Resource (MER) The MER is a prospective cohort study of newly diagnosed lymphoma patients seen at the Mayo Clinic or the University of Iowa and has enrolled over 5,000 patients since the study opened in 2002. The MER collects a variety of biospecimens at enrollment and prospectively follows patients for clinical events and outcome. Maurer is the primary statistician for the MER. Significance to patient care Maurer's research aims to identify optimal ways to analyze studies and better understand patient risk in the modern lymphoma treatment era. Recent publicationsEducation
