SummaryMy research concentrates on animal models of clinically relevant MRI findings in multiple sclerosis (MS) and MS-related diseases. Through our collaboration with the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core Facility at Mayo, we have access to a 7 Tesla and a 16.3 Tesla small-animal MRI system. We investigate the immunopathogenesis of (1) T1 black hole formation; (2) deep gray matter T2 hypointensity; (3) brain and spinal cord atrophy; and (4) fulminant/hemorrhagic demyelination in our novel mouse models. In addition, we also plan to study the MRI and MRS signatures of remyelination, in collaboration with Moses Rodriguez, M.D. All the above models are unique to our laboratory and our collaborators. A key collaborator on these projects is Aaron J. Johnson, M.D. at the Waddell Center for Multiple Sclerosis, University of Cincinnati. Several recent and upcoming publications summarize the key aspects of our research, as listed in my PubMed link. Recent publicationsEducation
