SummaryLung cancer is the most common cancer killer it accounts for nearly a third of all deaths from cancer in the United States. When identified early, non small cell lung carcinoma is routinely resected with survival rates of 40 to 85%. Unfortunately, most lung cancers present at an advanced stage resulting in a dismal overall 5 year survival of 15%. Early detection could potentially improve survival. My clinical research focuses on the early detection, chemoprevention, endoscopic staging and treatment of lung cancer. I currently have several clinical trials underway in the early detection of lung cancer using techniques such as FISH and TCPP staining we analyze exfoilated cells in sputum to identify new more sensitive markers of malignancy. We are actively enrolling for a phase II lung cancer chemoprevention trial using sulindac as part of the Cancer Prevention Network. Recent publicationsSee a listing of my publications Education
