SummaryMy research is focused on the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease. This involves the development and validation of novel methods to assess kidney function and injury across the spectrum of health and disease. I also have an interest in studying kidney stones as markers of systemic disease. Specific projects include: 1) Measurement and estimation of glomerular filtration rate in the general population and among community hypertensives; 2) Prospective and historical cohort studies of incident stone formers in the community; 3) Assessing the relationship of clinic comorbidities to renal radiological and histological abnormalities among kidney donors; 4) Identifying novel genetic determinants of chronic kidney disease with genome-wide association studies and linkage analyses; and 5) General epidemiological support for the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.
