SummaryMy research centers around developing and testing of new imaging methods to identify, evaluate, and monitor treatment of breast cancer. This includes vibrioacoustography which does not use radiation, and was developed at Mayo. Molecular breast imaging is a new technique that shows promise as both a screening and staging tool for breast cancer in specific patient groups. An area of major interest is determining the significance of calcification of arteries that are seen on mammograms during routine cancer screening. Since mammography is now established as a valuable screening tool, most women receive annual examinations. We are exploring the possibility that additional findings on these studies might have significant cardiovascular health care implications.
