Dr. Bernstein has a special focus on:

• Development of novel MRI systems and software, including a lightweight, high-field system for head imaging
• Development of MRI biomarkers (within the laboratory of Clifford R. Jack Jr., M.D.) to monitor Alzheimer's disease in multicenter studies and clinical trials

Significance to patient care

The purpose of the novel, lightweight MRI system is to allow the deployment of low-cost, high-quality MRI scanners to locations where they previously have not been available.

The goal of the imaging biomarker work is to provide imaging tools to researchers so that they may more rapidly assess therapies and repeatedly improve upon them to find effective, new treatments for Alzheimer's disease.
