Summary

My research focuses on defining molecular mechanisms regulating ovarian carcinogenesis and the progression of type I and type II ovarian cancer. Using an integrative approach-consisting of genomics, proteomics, functional, and translational studies, I am investigating genomic, biological, and clinical features of early-stage ovarian cancer with the objective of applying research discoveries for the early detection of ovarian cancer.

Similar approaches are being used to identify molecular mechanisms associated with metastatic progression and the development of chemotherapy resistant phenotype in ovarian cancer with the objective of uncovering novel therapeutic targets to treat metastatic and chemoresistant disease.

Finally, using mouse models, I am investigating the role of tissue stem cells in ovarian carcinogenesis and the role of tumor stem cells in tumor maintenance with the goal of targeting these cells for cancer therapy.
