SummaryMy research examines the biomechanics of the hand and wrist including the anatomy, advanced imaging, and CT reconstruction of the joints of the hand and wrist. In addition, research involves EMG analysis of the muscle actions, ligament constraints, and joint forces. Also examined are the development of new "anatomic and biomechanically sound" total joints for the hand and wrist leading to new types of reconstructive surgery as well as fractures of the wrist including distal radius. Our work also focuses on understanding of the pathophysiology of distal radius fractures, epidemiology, and relationship to osteoporosis and analysis of different methods of treatment.
