SummaryMy research interests focus on the pathophysiology of bone loss in women and men. This involves epidemiological, clinical research center-based, animal, and basic studies. My particular interest is in the area of the relationship of declining sex steroid levels in aging women and men to bone loss. These studies are complemented by animal studies using genetically engineered mice as well as studies in basic bone cell biology examining sex steroid action on bone cells at different stages of differentiation. In addition, my laboratory is involved in studies on osteoprogenitor and mesenchymal stem cell differentiation.
