SummaryI am involved in clinical research that evaluates how to reduce preventable complications following breast reconstructive surgery, such as venous thromboembolism and surgical site infections. The impetus for this research is to improve quality of care and surgical outcomes. I am also interested in studying ways to prevent mastectomy skin necrosis in women undergoing mastectomy and breast reconstruction.
I am currently the principal investigator for the clinical trial "Botulinum Toxin A in Tissue Expander Breast Reconstruction — a Randomized Controlled Trial", designed to find novel ways of improving postoperative pain following implant-based breast reconstruction. Another area of interest is the field of adolescent breast surgery, to better understand when is the appropriate time to perform surgery, and which types of procedures improve quality of life in adolescents with conditions affecting the appearance of their breasts.
