Summary

Dr. Kirsten Hall Long is a Health Economist, Assistant Professor of Health Services Research, and Consultant in the Division of Health Care Policy & Research at the Mayo Clinic. Since joining the staff at the Mayo Clinic in 1998, her work has focused on designing and conducting economic analyses alongside clinical trials, observational economic analyses, costing methodologies, cost-effectiveness analysis, and technology assessment. More specific research interests and publications focus on the cost-effectiveness of coronary heart disease preventive and treatment strategies, the economics of cancer screening and care, technology assessment of minimally invasive surgical and anesthesia techniques, assessing the clinical and economic outcomes associated with new models of healthcare delivery, and methods to improve quality and value in health care service delivery.
