SummaryMy research interests focus on implementing and studying system modifications to reduce or eliminate the risk of preventable harm to patients during the perioperative period. We have applied this approach to anesthesia for hospitalized patients and ambulatory surgery; as well as patients seeking treatment for chronic pain. In derivative work, we are developing a new neurostimulation technology to be applied to the treatment of neuropathic pain with fewer risks and side effects than conventional pain therapy. Professional Highlights Editor-in-Chief, Patient Safety CME Editorial Board, American Society of Anesthesiologists, 2007?present.
