Summary

The primary research interests of Dr. Naessens are in the areas of risk adjustment including severity of illness, ambulatory care categorization methods, and quality of care and patient safety measurement. He has authored papers dealing with comorbidity measures and with the development and use of a pre-existing disease indicator to enhance hospital measurements derived from administrative data. Current research includes issues in identification and assessment of adverse events.
