Summary

The collaborative research of Ann L. Oberg, Ph.D., is motivated by her clinical collaborators at Mayo Clinic. She has an emphasis on understanding disease mechanisms and/or markers of disease in ovarian and pancreatic cancer and immunological response to vaccination.

Most of this work utilizes high-dimensional expression data of various types. As a result, her primary statistical research interests are in the area of high-dimensional data analysis. Dr. Oberg is a member of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center.

Focus areas

  • Normalization methods and experimental design for global proteomic data
  • Analysis methods for integrating multiple data types (such as mRNA expression and methylation)
  • Normalization and analysis methods for expression data produced by next-generation sequencing platforms

Significance to patient care

Dr. Oberg's collaborations and research are directed at finding markers of disease or response to treatment so that disease can be detected early enough for successful treatment and patients can receive optimal treatments.
