SummaryClinical trials design, conduct, and analysis issues are my primary research interests. Assigned to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center (MCCC) since 1975, I have served as Director of the Cancer Center Statistics Unit (CCS) and Group Statistician for the associated North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) from 1978 to 1989 and again from 1985 to 2000. Since 1983, I have served as Lead Statistician for the MCCC/NCCTG Neuro-Oncology Research Program. More recently, I have been working with MCCC/NCCTG hematologic malignancies investigators, as well. Nationally, I have been a member of the Steering Committee for the NCI-funded Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU) since 2000, have served on several data monitoring committees for cancer and AIDS/HIV clinical trials research programs, and am currently a member of two FDA advisory committees. For nearly 15 years, I have been especially interested in statistical education, including development of appropriate quantitative literacy instructional materials for use in kindergarten through high school classrooms and training of teachers of statistics courses in the high schools.
