Summary

Current research interests include:

  1. Comparative effectiveness
    Which cardiac biomarker, imaging or stress test(s) are most accurate and cost effective for detecting heart diseases? When should testing be performed and repeated?

  2. Outcomes in coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease
    How can we improve patient outcomes? What is the best course of management for the elderly patient? What is the optimal time for surgical intervention in severe valvular heart disease?

  3. Cardiovascular correlates of aging
    We have demonstrated that even mild abnormalities in diastolic function are associated with a decline in exercise capacity and that this relationship is more pronounced in older patients. What are the cardiovascular correlates of aging and are these modifiable? Can frailty be prevented or treated?
