SummaryAs a clinical virologist and microbiologist, the following are my research interestest:
Development of qualitative and quantitative real-time PCR tests to eventually replace cell culture methods for the laboratory diagnosis of virus infections. At the present time, we have replaced over 90% of the cell culture-based tests with PCR assays.
Implementation of new nucleic acid extraction procedures for improving the quality and performance characteristics of PCR tests.
Studies relating copy levels of cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus with several patient groups including organ transplant patients and immunocompromised children with lymphoproliferative disorders.
Implementation of molecular tests as replacement for culture-based technology for the laboratory diagnosis of Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections. Recent publicationsSee a listing of my publications Education
