SummaryMichael Wallace, M.D., focuses his research on minimally invasive detection of gastrointestinal and lung cancers, including advanced endoscopic imaging technologies. In collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Wallace pioneered the development of light-scattering spectroscopy, which has now been applied to detection of early cancer in Barrett's esophagus, colon cancer, colon and rectal polyps, and other non-GI cancers. His work in this area now focuses on narrow-band imaging, optical frequency domain imaging, optical coherence tomography, spectroscopy and molecular imaging. In addition, Dr. Wallace performs research on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), particularly the application of EUS to pancreatic and lung cancer staging.
