SummaryThe primary foci of my research are physician well-being, evidence-based medicine (EBM) and biostatistics, and medical education. I am currently involved in the Mayo Internal Medicine Well-being Study (Mayo IMWELL Study), a prospective longitudinal study of quality of life, burnout, empathy, and other markers of personal well-being of Mayo internal medicine residents. I have also worked to develop a comprehensive EBM curriculum for the Mayo Medical School, and will be evaluating the impact of this curriculum with the assistance of Dr. Furman McDonald. Additionally, I have worked with Dr. Joe Kolars on several projects involving the national Internal Medicine In-Training Examination. Each of these projects has involved collaboration with groups both within Mayo and externally, including Dr. Tait Shanafelt in the Division of Hematology, Dr. Jeff Sloan in the Division of Biostatistics, and members of leadership in the American College of Physicians.
