Clinical Profile

Summary

My research interest is in clinical research and particularly randomized controlled trials and case-controlled retrospective studies designed to answer specific questions. The research in these studies will have a direct impact on the practice of colon and rectal surgery.

Current studies include:

Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of Seprafilm adhesion barrier in limiting postoperative adhesion formation.
Clinical outcomes of appendiceal mucocele.
Randomized controlled trial to compare stapled functional end-to-end anastomosis with sutured end-to-end anastomosis following resection for primary or recurrent ileocolonic Crohns disease.
Bowel function after ultra-low resection of rectal cancer and radiotherapy.
Surgical epidemiology of sigmoid diverticular disease.
Staging rectal carcinoma.
Oophorectomy in colon and rectal cancer; a prospective randomized study.
A prospective randomized trial of intraperitoneal versus extraperitoneal techniques for construction of terminal left iliac fossa colostomies.
