SummaryThe goal of my research is to improve tissue healing quality, reduce complications, and restore function after musculoskeletal tissue injury. My research team has developed chemical engineering techniques to eliminate postoperative adhesions after tendon or ligament repair or graft. We also have successfully developed tissue engineering techniques to enhance tendon-to-tendon or tendon-to-bone healing capability using scaffolds, stem cells and growth factors. Our recent exploration of chemical treatment combined with tissue engineering approaches may optimize soft tissue healing, which has great potential impact on clinical practice. My other research activities involve many topics in musculoskeletal research, such as spine biomechanics and instrumentation design; joint contracture; rotator cuff injuries; tendinopathy; and soft tissue regeneration. As a researcher with a strong clinical background, my research endeavors always focus on research that is clinically relevant and translational. Recent publicationsEducation
