Summary

Director of the Mayo Uro-Oncologic Fellowship program overseeing the training and education of advanced clinicians and researchers in the field of genitourinary oncology (renal and adrenal tumors, retroperitoneal tumors, testicular, bladder, and prostate cancer as well as other genitourinary malignancies). Particular interest in models to predict outcome after treatment for prostate and renal cancer surgery. Involvement in several models to predict low and high volume disease in prostate cancer, an interdisciplinary effort between pathologists and statisticians and surgeons. Personal interest and large experience in nerve-sparing and continence preserving radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, nephron-preserving surgery (partial nephrectomy) for renal cell cancer. Primary or co-investigator in several drug studies and immunotherapy studies in the field of prostate and renal cell cancer. Primary investigator in using cryosurgery for genitourinary malignancies. Evaluation of alternative cancer treatment programs using high-intensity focused ultrasound, radiofrequency ablation, thermoseeds, etc.
