RESEARCH TRAINEE PROGRAM

We are currently recruiting for our research trainee program. The program provides a solid mentored research experience, that includes both didactics and a hands on one on one mentoring. Each trainee is assigned a clinical research project, that is doable in the given time frame. As part of the mentored research experience, trainees will also take formal computer classes on how to use the various computer programs, and use of Medline and searching electronic journals. Trainees are assigned a space in the department and have a laptop provided. Trainees can expect to generate 3-5 abstracts as first authors. Travel and presentation expenses for accepted work are covered. Our acceptance rate so far has been >90%. Individualized coaching for scientific writing, poster presentation, and conducting scientific analysis is given. Trainees also obtain advice on residency and fellowship application if applicable. There are also several opportunities for authorship on review articles, case reports, book chapters and clinical images. So far, we have hosted trainees from Chile, India, Ireland, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Singapore.

Abstracts of the research are submitted to the 5 major meetings we routinely present at:

  • American Academy of Neurology
  • American College of Emergency Physicians
  • American Neurological Association
  • International Stroke Meeting
  • Society for Academic Emergency Medicine

Duration & Timing:

1 year, full time, start dates are flexible. Research Trainees are responsible for their own expenses. No stipend is provided.
