Chemoprevention

Navtej Buttar, M.D., investigates the prevention of esophageal cancer in patients with Barrett's esophagus with safe medications and natural dietary products. In the lab, using cell cultures and preclinical rodent models, his team determines safe and effective agents that can prevent the cancer or downgrade markers that suggest progression towards cancer. These studies are funded through National Cancer Institute and Mayo Foundation.
