Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS)Dr. Miller is the principal investigator for the Mayo site of the multi-center clinical trial, Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS). This study will determine if using hormones for symptoms of menopause decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease in women between the ages of 42-58 years. In addition to collaborating with clinical colleagues in the Divisions of Cardiology, Vascular Medicine and the Women’s Health Clinic, participates of the KEEPS can also participate in studies of cognitive function (Neurology), blood clotting (Hematology), bone density (Endocrinology), sleep (Psychiatry), and changes in the breast (Breast Clinic). Thus, KEEPS is a wonderful example of interdisciplinary research, the results of which will impact and improve the care of menopausal women. Many of our ancillary studies are funded by the National Institutes of Health. |
